Lorna Owens is from Georges Valley in Manchester, Jamaica where she was the eldest of four children.

She studied nursing at the University of the West Indies and worked as a nurse in Kingston before going to England to study Midwifery. After returning to Jamaica to continue her nursing career Lorna moved to Texas to work as a nurse in Corpus Christi. She made her way to Miami, Florida where she continued her nursing career even while attending university at the University of Miami and Florida International University.

Lorna made the decision to attend law school after being a nurse for more than 20 years and went on to graduate with a law degree from the University of Florida. She joined the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s office where she became a prosecutor working for the county’s state attorney Janet Reno who later went on to become the United States Attorney General.

Lorna went into private practice and became a criminal defense attorney trying several murder cases and later an Entertainment Attorney covering the Publishing, Music and Film Industry. Owens continues to practice law but walked away from practicing fulltime after feeling burnt out and became an international speaker. She is the CEO of Desert Sage, A Lifestyle Company Purveyors of Fine Teas, Soy and Coconut Candle, Natural Body Wash and Lotion and Charcoal Facial Soap.

Lorna is also the Founder of Footprints Foundation working with governments to reduce maternal and infant mortality in the D.R. Congo, Jamaica, Ethiopia a, Somaliland and USA. In addition, she is launching a campaign against Female Genital Mutilation. In D.R. Congo she has worked tirelessly with the women who have been raped.

Owens is a former Midwife, Registered Nurse, Publisher Blessing Press and also Legal Commentator, Nancy Grace CNN, HLN and Tru TV In Session, Adjunct Professor, Gender Expert, International Speaker, Executive/ Life Coach and Author who has traveled to over 20 countries teaching and coaching Women’s Groups and Organizations. Lorna holds a Certificate in the Science of Wellbeing from Yale, and Mindfulness from Rice University.

In addition to appearances on CNN, HLN and Court TV, Lorna has appeared on NBC, TBN, and TV in Jamaica, Cayman Island, Bermuda and Curacao. The Miami Herald called her a Pioneer and the Mother of Reinvention.
